Individualized Reading Instruction

Teaching a young child to read is straightforward. Every reading success rests on early language experience. Reading to and with children is a priority for many families. Those experiences immersed in print and language shape the early connection to formal reading instruction.

Families sometimes need help with providing opportunities for sharing print and learning foundational skills for reading. This can be a point at which individualized reading instruction can help with overall skill development and readiness for school.  The individualized reading instruction I offer is not a replacement for what is taught in school, but rather a “booster” for success in the classroom with a little extra support from a skilled reading specialist.

The best instructional plans for reading are based upon the needs of the individual child. Parents are their child’s first, best teachers. Some children start school unprepared to learn in larger groups, causing a lag in reading development. Though excellent teachers exist in every school, and they are working hard to help children achieve their highest potential, it is impossible to teach to each child’s unique needs with many other children in one classroom. Even reading specialists do not have the luxury of teaching 1:1 with children in the school setting most of the time.

If what you are seeking  is a reading boost from a professional reading specialist in an individualized setting according to a plan created specifically for your child, then “Be A Reader” is right for you and your family.
